Big Finish

Woo hoo! It's Tuesday night again and here comes my Idol review. Honestly, I don't know who reads or cares about my opinions, but I truly enjoy reviewing these performances. It makes me happy.

Speaking of happy, I want to focus on the good this week, rather than the bad or the ugly. (Although, can I please say that Allison's dress did sort of... detract from her talent.)

What a great week for Danny Gokey (What Hurts the Most.) He chooses great song after great song. And when he adds his cool Gokey voice, who could NOT love Danny? I tell you what, I sure do. That performance almost made me cry.

Allison Iraheta (Don't Speak) is really talented. I think that she shares that great, sort of rugged tone, that Danny has. They just have unique voices. And Allison is a fun performer; I get a kick out of watching her. She loves that stage.

And man, the grand finale of the evening - - - drum roll, please - - - Kris Allen (Ain't No Sunshine) was killer tonight! He's an artist and he is an original. I just might need to download that song and I am voting, for sure. The judges are right, Kris is on a roll.

:) Yep, happy.

3 Musketeers

I agree

"Honestly, at-risk contestants battling for that precious Judges' Save should have the option of singing their BEST song of the season, the song of their choice--not their WORST."

Idol's Top Ten List

Thank you Idol for cheering up my day.  (Thank you, Mom, too, for watching my kids this afternoon.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.)  Tonight was an entertaining evening on Fox 13.  For what it's worth, here is my weekly review:

1.  Matt Giraud is Groovy.

2.  Kris Allen - Such an adorable guy.  Great singer and I love his mannerisms; very Jason Mraz-ish.  Ben and I both like Kris a lot.  He just makes people happy.

3.  Scott is Average.

4.  Megan Joy Corkery - I really wanted to like her tonight, but honestly it was a bit of a mess.  She had a few good moments, but overall I felt bummed.

5.  Anoop is Gloomy.

6.  Michael is Smiley.

7.  Lil Rounds - Fun to watch.  She is a diva in a good way.  But the performance just got louder and louder - "a bit shouty" by the end.

8.  Adam Lambert - Shock.  That boy has the element of surprise down to a T.  But I got to tell ya', I wasn't shaking my head this week.  (Did he look a little Zack Efron-y to anyone?)

9.  Gokey is Consistently good.

10.  Allison Iraheta - Holy Moly!  Superb.  Every note, every movement - Loved.  It.

Moderation in All Things

Taesya says it best, "Mom is a juice-a-holic."  And it is true; I drink a lot of juice.  Mainly when I'm pregnant.  But I'm not pregnant now and still the juice is calling my name.  MMMmmmm.

I went to the dentist today and he delivered the bad news: I have a cavity.  He didn't name any cause, but I know the truth; I have to cut down on my "jugo" habit.  Sad.

I do not Understand

Someone please explain to me the appeal of Adam Lambert.  (On American Idol, by the way.)  I simply do not get it.  Every time he sings I'm just shaking my head, flabbergasted; especially after the judges give him a rave review.

Enlighten me, please.  Why is Adam Lambert so great?  Cuz I'm just not seeing it.

Managing Time - Focusing on Family

I think that everyone has troubles at one time or another managing their time.  That time for me is now.  Trying to fulfill my responsibilities as a Father, Husband, Employee, and Church callings is getting more difficult for me everyday.

Right now I'm trying to focus on my family and pushing everything thing else aside until I feel I'm on the same page with Amber and that I'm giving everyone the attention that they need.  I know it will never be perfect but so far its going pretty good.

Keller is a handsome little boy and he's a lot of work.  I find myself trying to put him to sleep even when he's not tired because its just instinct for me to lay him down and bounce so sometime I frustrate him more that I should.  Sometimes he just wants to see what's going on.  I like taking care of him and he's getting me back in shape.

I love my family (especially my beautiful wife Amber, who is looking prettier everyday)  and I want them to know that they are number 1 on my priority list (the majority of the time).

Family Home Evening

For FHE tonight we talked about gardening plans.  What do we want to grow?  How do we take care of a garden? Etc.

Picture this, though:  We let Canon choose the opening song and as we began to sing, our little gangsta starts beat boxing.  (Yes, seriously, our two year old beat boxes.)  So our short little man is going boom-b-chi pp-tt-ba as we sing, as earnestly as we can, "How much is that Doggie in the window?  The one with the waggily tail.  How much is that doggie in the window?  I do hope that dog is for sale."

It was a moment not to be forgotten.

Group 3

Sadly, I missed the first 3 singers on idol last night.  So I didn't get to hear Taylor from Utah.  I really liked her in her original audition and I hope she did well.

Unlike last week where everyone was terrible or terrific, this week there were a lot of in-between-ies.  Pretty good songs, but not great enough to mention.  The only person I really liked was Lil Rounds.  I didn't know the song, but she sang it super bueno.  I hope she makes it through and I hope her 3 little kids are doing ok without mom at home.  That would be tough.

Side note:  4 judges makes the judging last for-e-ver.  Sometimes it feels like 20 minutes.  Good-ness sakes.
